As soon as Gabby suggested a party dress month for the Dressmakers Ball, I knew immediately that I wanted to revisit the Skater Dress. It’s an excellent pattern for a party frock, with its V-shaped back. It’s actually a very simple garment to make. It has clean lines and doesn’t require any complex techniques. I hadn’t been entirely happy about the fit of my first skater dress – I thought there were still some pattern refinements to be made. So this was the perfect opportunity to come back to the pattern and get the fit to how I wanted it.
It’s the Dressmakers Ball Month with our Simple sew bloggers and they’ve been busy making beautiful party dresses the last couple of weeks using fabric from FCFabricStudio!
Hobbling Handmade’s Lena Party Wrap Dress was an absolute hit! We all want this dress in this Deborah floral scuba now.
“I’ve never worn a wrap dress before — let alone made one, but I thought that a ball would be the perfect excuse to make a Lena! I chose a beautiful scuba fabric from FC Fabric Studio and could barely contain my excitement as I was cutting it out and my vision was slowly coming together.”
